Hey dude, sorry for the delay. Welcome to the Spanish Wikipedia. First, I want to point that I like the United States, I've family legally living in California and Texas, I live in Mexicali, the most northern Mex-US border city, such thing give me the possibility to cross the to the US side 3 or 4 times per week. Back to the América (desambiguación) issue, is not my intention to offend u; América in Spanish is the whole continent, North and South, which in Spanish we considered them as sub-continents not as a seprate continents as the considered in English, dont ask me why, even Central America and the West Indies are considered as separeted regions and not part of NA like the English model, (in Spanish NA just includes Canada, USA, Mexico, Greenland , Bermuda and St. Pierre & Miquelon), América in Spanish is never used to refer to the United States. The USA demonym is estadounidense, although most of the U.S. nationals are considered Americans because most of the US is located in América, all the inhabitants of América (from Greenland to Argentina) are Americans, curiously the Hawaiians are usually excluded as Americans. In some circles the use of América to refer to the United States is offensive, So dude, to avoid any hostile situation please remember, if you have the chance to visit another American country, you will be an U.S. citizen, not an American citizen. Hey Okie, its a good to show the full and official name of the USA, when I referred to the "wrong" use by the Anglo-nations, was because most of them use the term just to refer to the USA and not to the whole continent, I as Mexican I'm an American as any Canadian, Brazilian, Costa Rican or Jamaican are as well. You should try to read this en:American (word) (Uso de la palabra americano(a)). I hope u wont be offended after read this, I know some ppl can be very aggresive with this.
