editarNativo de Navojoa, obtuvo su apodo de Yori (hombre blanco en lengua MAYO), cuando estaba joven y empezó a entrenar en el gimnasio, esos días impresionó a sus entrenadores "Chava Mendoza y Gilberto Marquez", quienes empezaron a apodarlo Yori Boy.

editarEl 30 de marzo de 2012 alcanzó cien victorias en su carrera con un nocaut en el segundo round en contra de Mauro Lucero. La victoria le dio a campas su victoria número 79 por la vía rápida dejando su récord en 100-16-1[2]
