Stephen Ullmann (en húngaro: Ullmann István; 31 de Julio de 1914 a 31 de diciembre pop) fue un Lingüísta Hungaro, quien paso la mayoria de su vida en who Inglaterra y escribio sobre estilo y semantica en lenguas romance y lenguas comunes.

Nacido en Budapest, Austria-Hungria, Ullmann se graduo de la Eötvös Loránd University (tambien conocida como la Universidad de Budapest) y de la Universidad de Glasgow en Escocia. Más tarde Ullmann enseño en la Universidad de Glasgow, at the University of Leeds where he was Professor of French Language and Romance Philology from 1953 to 1968, and at Oxford University. In 1974 he spent five months as a visitor at the Australian National University's department of Romance languages, where he lectured on "Words and their meanings".​
